Mrs. Alma Hernandez is the UTRGV Harlingen Collegiate High (HCH) Resident Administrator. Mrs. Hernandez is an experienced educator with a passion for inspiring both students and fellow educators alike. With over a decade of commitment to education, she has emerged as a leader in curriculum development, instructional excellence, and educational leadership.
With a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Mrs. Hernandez combines a profound understanding of educational theory with practical classroom application. She has leveraged this expertise to cultivate a dynamic and engaging learning experience for students while also mentoring and guiding fellow educators.
During her tenure, Mrs. Hernandez served as a Math Department Chair for eight years, driving significant growth and innovation within the department. Her leadership and commitment to excellence were recognized when she received Teacher of the Year honors at Coakley Middle School in 2019 and UTRGV Harlingen Collegiate High in 2024.
Beyond her classroom achievements, Mrs. Hernandez played a pivotal role in UTRGV Harlingen Collegiate High's Aspiring Teacher Pathway program, guiding and preparing future educators for success in the field. Nurturing aspiring educators and preparing them for success in the field brings her immense joy and fulfillment.
